Wegmans Food Markets, the Rochester, New York based grocer are continuing to open new stores, however it’s taking a more cautious approach as they are not not disclosing opening dates for the stores. Instead, it will provide a ‘targeted timeframe’ in order to avoid the crowds that typically attend a grand opening.
Wegmans remains on track to open its three previously announced locations for this year, which are Harrison, NY, West Cary, NC and Tysons Corner, VA. When open, all three stores will offer online ordering with curbside pickup and delivery, which the company encouraged shoppers to use. Wegmans also noted it will be limiting the number of customers in the store at any given time to maintain safe social distancing.
“While we love the excitement of opening morning, with customers anxiously awaiting to see their new Wegmans, we know this isn’t possible as the need to maintain social distancing remains. With that in mind, we will share a targeted timeframe that the store will open. We believe this will allow us to keep our employees and customers safe, and also give us flexibility to open our doors as soon as possible.” – company statement.
