Tesco continues to move forward with Jack’s

Despite speculations that it would close the chain last year, Tesco now has plans to launch a 13th Jack’s store.

The company explained that it has always been looking for potential new sites for Jack’s stores and the Big 4 grocer said that the new Jack’s will take over a vacant Mothercare store in Kingston, Hull, in Northern England, and has submitted plans to the local council.

Tesco Chief Executive Dave Lewis launched the Jack’s format, named after Tesco’s Founder Jack Cohen, in September 2018 at a store in Chatteris, eastern England. The store aimed to take a similar initiative to the German discounters Aldi and Lidl by focusing on own-brand items to keep costs to a minimum.
