Facebook Shops goes live in South Korea

Competing in a booming e-commerce market that is dominated by local businesses, Facebook’s service will allow sellers to highlight products through an online storefront that is highly customisable.

People that use the service will be able to browse through their Facebook or Instagram accounts and store products they may want to buy. An upcoming feature of the service will see people be able to make purchases via instant messaging.

As part of the platform rollout, the company has partnered with local services Shopify, Bigcommerce, Woocommerce and Cafe24. The South Korea launch comes a month after it went live in the US and key locations across Europe and the social media business has said it will support small enterprises that have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
