A new concept has been announced for the Heart of Europe project which will see a ‘raining street’ implemented that will offer year-round rainfall, reducing temperatures to 27 degrees Celsius.
The 1km long street aspect of the new development will offer rainfall all day, every day throughout the year on the Europe Island of the $5bn Heart of Europe project. The upcoming street will play host to a boulevard setting of street cafes, casual dining restaurants and retail outlets.
Along with this, the site is also expected to host as many as 51-year round ‘European’ festivals throughout the year. The latest part of this Dubai mega-project is backed by Fraunhofer Institute, a Munich-based research organisation.
“With the temperature ranging between 40 to 50 degrees Celsius during summer, people are not going to walk outside,” company Chairman Josef Kleindienst said. “The technology ensures that as soon as the temperature goes about 27 degrees Celsius on the island, cold water in the form of rain will fall from top of the buildings through concealed pipes,” he said. “As the buildings take shape, we have started the engineering works to set up the Rainy Street within the European Island of the Heart of Europe, which will be surrounded by hotels and resorts.” The first phase of the Heart of Europe project is currently on course to be delivered in the last quarter of the year.
