Director General Reem Al Hashemy has revealed strict health and safety measures will be in place to welcome guests to the Expo next year.
The re-arranged Expo 2020 Dubai is set to focus more on the quality of the experience of each guest, rather than the amount of people that come through the door, this is according to Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Director General of the Expo 2020 Dubai office.
Previous estimations suggested the six month showcase, originally set to run from 20 October this year through to 10 April 2021 would bring in 25 million visits, with 70 per cent of these coming from abroad. The event has been forced to switch its dates to 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 because of the global pandemic, however event organisers are having to rethink the logistics behind it, putting in place now social distancing measures and increased health and safety measures.
Al Hashemy said: “I do believe people will come. Alhamdulillah, by next October, things will hopefully be a lot more managed than what we’re currently living through now. But we’re also not taking anything for granted. We’re preparing different options for folks to be able to enjoy what the Expo has to offer.
“For us, it’s less about looking at the number of folks that walk through the gates, but the depth of experience that people have. I believe very strongly that what we’ve put in place, the themes that we’re going to talk about and the tone that we’re going to strike is really going to resonate with folks.”
