High-end Department Store John Lewis has launched a new furniture rental service.
The service is being hosted in partnership with Fat Llama, the world’s largest online rental marketplace and will allow shoppers to lease some of its most popular furniture items for three, six or twelve months at a time. Shoppers are able to purchase the furniture at any time during the rental period however John Lewis intends to create a more circular furniture economy by renting furniture out again after they have been cleaned.
The service is currently only being offered to residents of Greater London as many people in this area rent their property and move frequently and due to this do not want to own lots of furniture. However, if the initiative proves successful the brand will quickly roll out the scheme to the other areas of the UK.
