The move has come as part of Tata Starbucks’ efforts to address female employment inequality in India.
The two new stores are located in Delhi and Mumbai and have female staff only. This comes as a huge step forward in Tata Starbucks’ commitment to expand the representation of women in the workforce and ensuring that their female staff will receive 100% pay equality. The initiative also takes into account the responsibilities of motherhood that some women will want to undertake. This is just the first step in Tata Starbucks plan to empower female workers in India and the company says it plans to double the number of its female-led store by the end of this year.
‘We are proud to open these all-women stores that will increase our commitment to diversity and inclusion in India and empower our female partners in new and meaningful ways.’ said Tata Starbucks CEO Navin Gurnaney.
