DoorDash Launches Grocery Delivery Service

DoorDash is partnering with Smart & Final, Meijer and Fresh Thyme to offer a grocery delivery service to select areas.

In an effort to expand from its current offering of food delivery from restaurants, DoorDash will compete with other players such as Instacart and Amazon Fresh to deliver fresh groceries to customers. The move comes following the recent launch of DashMart, its online convenience store and is a smart move on the company’s behalf, considering the huge uptake of online shopping in recent months.

Grocery delivery orders will be picked and packed in-store by employees and then placed on designated shelves where DoorDash drivers will be able to pick them up and deliver to customers. The food delivery company claims its delivery coverage will reach 75 million customers in these regions.
