Plans to open 200 physical stores have been rescheduled due to the Covid-19 crisis.
The Dutch variety store-chain, Hema is now available to Mexican customers via an online platform. Although plans had been announced earlier in the year to open 200 stores with franchise partners Ensueno Group and Modateles Group, this has now been postponed due to the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus.
The physical stores are still planned to open although on a much later timescale, with the brand now expecting to open their 200 stores by the end of 2025, rather than 2020.
The online shop will offer a product range of around 4000 items, Chief Executive Officer Tjeerd Jegen has commented: “We believe that our products will fit well with the Mexican consumers’ need to make their lives easier, more fun and better.”
