Sales are Down at J Jill

The retailer has reported that second quarter net sales fell 49 per cent to $92.6M from $180.7M in the same period last year.

Despite an effort to boost their e-commerce sales and trim expenses due to store closures bought on by the coronavirus induced lockdowns which appears to have paid off for the brand according to Interim CEO James Scully who commented in a statement that he was pleased with the company and their teams for their hard work and dedication in the challenging climate.

Although many other retail brands are starting to see a slight surge in sales as lockdown continues to ease, J. Jill so far hasn’t been as lucky.

J. Jill has closed five stores in the second quarter and is expecting to make at least another six permanent store closures by the end of the current quarter.
