Academy Sports + Outdoors (“Academy”) (Nasdaq: ASO), a leading full-line sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer, is excited to announce the opening of its first store in the Indianapolis area. Located at 1960 East Greyhound Pass in Westfield, the approximately 75,000-square-foot store brings a wide assortment of sports and outdoors merchandise to the area.
Academy hosted grand opening festivities on August 25 – August 27.
This marks the third store Academy has opened in 2023. This fall, Academy will also open the state’s sixth store in Avon, Ind. Academy plans to continue its expansion efforts with the goal of opening 13 – 15 stores this year, and a total of 120 to 140 new stores by the end of 2027.

A Proud Partner of the Indianapolis Colts, Academy collaborated with the team during training camp to thank Westfield High School teachers with a sideline experience and gift cards from Academy. Both Academy and the Colts look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the Indy community through additional events, digital content, and social media collaborations. Colts fans can find tailgating essentials, licensed apparel and novelty items both in store and online.
Customers can also expect to find the best assortment of athletic and casual shoes, sports and outdoors equipment, and clothing from top, national brands such as Nike, adidas, Carhartt, Titleist, Shimano, YETI, Brooks, The North Face and more. Academy also offers tremendous everyday value and quality through its exclusive, private label brands such as Magellan Outdoors, Freely, R.O.W., BCG, H2OX, Redfield, Mosaic, and O’Rageous, which cover outdoor apparel and equipment, women’s and men’s apparel, workout attire, fishing equipment, hunting optics, and accessories, outdoor furniture, and water gear, respectively.
The new Westfield/Carmel location is a fun destination where customers can find sleeping bags and tents for an upcoming camping trip, gear for fall sports from football to volleyball, and everything from grills to games to create a backyard oasis. Academy offers free services such as grill and bike assembly, scope mounting, bore sighting, and line winding/spooling. Customers can also purchase hunting and fishing licenses in the store.
