Administrators called in at Oliver Sweeney

It appears that the administrators have been drafted in by Oliver Sweeney as its Oliver Sweeney Trading Limited subsidiary continues its trading struggles.

All of the Oliver Sweeney stores had already been closed in late March because of the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdown. However it has been revealed now that its five shops based in London’s Mayfair, Leadenhall Market and Covent Garden, as well as shops in Leeds and Manchester will be closed permanently.

The man at the helm, Tim Cooper will remain in place and look to manage the business through this difficult time, mentioning he was disappointed that the stores have had to be closed but remains confident about shifting the group online.

Oliver Sweeney is just the latest in a long line of retailers that have been affected by the global pandemic and joins a list that already includes such names as Cath Kidston, Debenhams, Laura Ashley, Monsoon Accessorize, Quiz and Victoria’s Secret.
