The budget-airline has seen their operations dwindle in Japan.
Given the lack of travel due to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company has commented that they are reviewing all of their options but given to weak demand, the company may close their operations in Japan all together. Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes commented: “We have to look at every option, including closing down the operation. We haven’t reached a decision yet.”
He continues, stating that currently the airline is unable to fly to Japan due to the international border shutdown, and since its presence in Japan is relatively small that the board was evaluating their possibilities, including the cessation of its flights there.
