Al Wasl Dome Breaks World Record

The Al Wasl Plaza, known as the ‘beating heart’ of the Expo site was the stage for some of the biggest performances by artists such as Nancy Ajram and Coldplay during the six-month event of Expo 2020 back in 2021.

Expo City Dubai‘s Al Wasl Plaza has secured the Guinness World Record title for the largest interactive immersive dome.

“Al Wasl Plaza stands as a testament to architectural excellence and a distinguished structure that resonates with those who have had the privilege of experiencing it,” Alwaleed Osman, Official Adjudicator at Guinness World Records™ said.

Echoing the sentiment, Amna Abulhoul, Executive Creative Director, Events & Entertainment, Expo City Dubai, highlighted the significance of Al Wasl Plaza, which translates to ‘connection’ in Arabic, in bringing people together.

“From interactive augmented reality and a tribute to legendary explorer Ibn Battuta, to the launch of a sustainable café and the return of our popular Winter City and Hai Ramadan festivities, our upcoming offerings cement our city as a hub of creativity, innovation and wellbeing,” she said.

One of the groundbreaking additions is an augmented reality (AR) experience, allowing visitors to interact with the iconic dome using their mobile phones. Additionally, Expo City Dubai has welcomed a new sustainable café, part of the growing culinary landscape featuring a range of dining options, including plant-based cuisine and upscale dining.
