The brand plans to use the funds to launch new products and expand its bricks-and-mortar stores internationally.
Allbirds was founded in 2014 by Tim Brown and Joey Zwillinger, they utilise a direct-to-consumer approach and bring environmentally friendly footwear to their customers. Since the brands initial launch which saw them start with just one trainer, the retailer has introduced a number of different styles. Tim Brown, Co-Founder commented:
“From the beginning, we’d always imagined the brand as being bigger than just the one sneaker that we sold. I think if we hadn’t, we would have called this thing ‘Woolies’ and just sort of called it a day.”
Sustainability has always been at the forefront of the Allbirds brand, and Joey Zwillinger commented that “this additional capital will allow us to further our mission of bringing more sustainable products to people around the world.”
