Amazon eyes stores in Philly

The largest city in the state of Pennsylvania is apparently the place Amazon is looking at for brick-and-mortar expansion.

The online retailer is currently planning to open three grocery stores under its new, still-unnamed banner in the Philadelphia metro area, according to a report by the Philadelphia Business Journal. The report also states that the three stores could be open by the end of 2020.

Amazon has already launched two physical locations in California, in Woodland Hills and Irvine, which were expected to be the first stores in its long-rumoured chain of grocery stores.

Other plans for Amazon include the opening of conventional grocery stores in North Hollywood, California and the Chicago suburbs of Oak Lawn, Schaumburg and Naperville according to the Seattle Times. Locations in Seattle and Washington D.C. are also reportedly in the works.
