The e-giant is expanding its use of robotics supply chain technology in the Volunteer State.
The e-tail titan anticipates the opening of a more than 855,000sq ft fulfilment centre in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, in late 2021. The site will create more than 1,000 new, full-time jobs with benefits. The company currently has fulfilment and sortation centres in Charleston, Chattanooga, Lebanon, Murfreesboro, Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee.
The Mt. Juliet facility will be Amazon’s second fulfilment centre in Tennessee to use innovative robotics technology. Employees at the facility will pick, pack and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and consumer goods. All associates will go through hours of safety training and have access to continuing education opportunities through Amazon’s upskilling programs such as Career Choice.
“Tennessee is a great state for business and gives us the opportunity to better serve our customers in the region,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s VP of Global Customer Fulfilment. “We are excited about our growth and remain committed to creating a positive economic impact in the region with job opportunities with great pay and industry-leading benefits.”
