The world’s largest online retailer is expanding their reach even further, offering their customers a new platform dedicated to luxury fashion.
Amazon has consistently worked at growing its fashion operations, acquiring Shopbop and Zappos in 2006 and 2009 respectively, as well as launching their own clothing brands in 2016. Amazon’s latest move in solidifying their presence in the fashion industry is the launch of their fashion platform which is expected to rival other online luxury fashion brands such as Farfetch. Further, the retail giant also plans to launch department stores, high-street chains and independent boutiques alike.
Fashion brands selling via the platform will have full access and control to their online store as well as access to Amazon’s ultra-fast and extensive delivery network and Amazon’s centralised warehousing.
Specific brands that will launch on the platform have yet to be announced, although it is rumoured that a dozen luxury brands are ready to launch.
