Authentic Brands Group Eyes Arcadia & Debenhams

The group is reportedly in discussion with Arcadia Group that fell into administration at the end of November and Debenhams, the biggest operator of Arcadia’s brands in their department stores.

According to sources, Founder and Chairman Jamie Salter has built up a reserve of more than $1bn to acquire struggling brands and businesses. Most recently the group has acquired Forever 21 and Brooks Brothers, and boasts an impressive portfolio consisting of Barneys, Juicy Couture, Airwalk and Herve Leger, as well as many others.

The group is apparently looking to offer a bid for both Debenhams and Arcadia Group, which owns Topshop, Topman, Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Evans among others. The US firm has a proven track record for delivering compelling product, innovative content and immersive brand experiences.

Mike Ashley’s Fraser Group is another interested party, the group is said to be working towards buying Debenhams’ online business for around £500M.
