The brand has announced the opening of its flagship and first-ever store in the US as it continues with its global expansion.
Located at 273 Lafayette Street, NYC – SoHo, the new 1,130sq ft space will for the first time bring a physical brick-and-mortar space to its loyal fan base in the US. Situated on the corner of Lafayette and Prince, the store is at the street level of a classic converted SoHo cast iron red-brick building. Its location has been carefully selected, noted for its nearby neighbourhood array of galleries, restaurants and bars – a smorgasbord that mirrors the brand’s own inter-cultural passions.
Axel Arigato 273 Lafayette Street is created in partnership with Halleroed, an architectural design studio that has long been responsible for defining Axel’s stores across Europe. The design champions Axel Arigato’s roots and love of Scandinavian minimalism, an aesthetic that underpins the brand’s visual identity given its Swedish origin.
The collision of natural stone, man-made metal fixtures and scaled materials has long punctuated Axel’s store sensibilities; NYC will continue to champion this European design nuance. The space will feature a mix of bespoke, European travertine monolithic podiums, bases on which to display its product, each flooded by natural light from floor to ceiling windows.
Albin Johansson, CEO & Co-Founder Axel Arigato: “Axel Arigato NYC also signals our continued drive and ambition for global growth in our tenth year of business. The US is a hugely important market for us and has long had a loyal customer base. We’re so excited to finally welcome them into a physical space, showing them the full breadth of our brand.”
