The Spanish luxury brand has opened its first store in Saint-Tropez, as part of a plan announced last September to renovate a number of its stores around the world.
The boutique features a restored interior and façade that reflects the brand’s concept of ‘raw architecture’ with the brand stating that the resulting store inherently requires less virgin materials. The store is surrounded by houses with warm and relaxing colours and as such, Balenciaga has developed an architecture that blends with the charm of the quaint French coastal city.
Balenciaga, whose offering includes men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, footwear, bags and accessories, wants customers to immerse themselves in the industrial setting of this new store, which features exposed electrical devices, concrete floors and walls, grey velvet curtains and stained and damaged walls.
To achieve this industrial feeling, the brand has created aged patinas on metal shelves and counters, concrete slabs and bricks, pipe-shaped shelves and display cases with LED lighting.
