Balenciaga has returned to the historic Parisian headquarters of its founder. Indeed, it was at 10 avenue George V that Cristóbal Balenciaga, in 1937, when he arrived in France, set up the headquarters of his fashion house, founded in 1917 in Spain.
The brand, which has been owned by the French luxury group Kering since 2001, will locate its laboratories and offices for haute couture – as well as its creative functions – on six levels, in completely renovated and expanded spaces.
The place exudes the spirit of Cristóbal Balenciaga, who lived there until 1968. The couturier even named his first perfume “Le Dix” in reference to this address, on the facade of which a commemorative plaque has been placed. The ground floor, previously used as a sales space for perfumes and accessories, has recently been transformed into a boutique entirely dedicated to high fashion, which offers “an innovative retail experience where customers can find exclusive collaborations and one-of-a-kind pieces”, specifies the brand in a statement, where it indicates that the building “will return to being the headquarters of Balenciaga”.
