The company is currently in the process of liquidating dozens of stores, as part of a plan that they outlined last year.
In July 2020, Bed, Bath & Beyond outlined a plan to close around 200 store locations by 2022. The hope was that a smaller real estate portfolio would allow them to remodel their more successful shop locations and invest more in their digital operations.
At the time of the announcement, the brand hoped that these closures would save the company anywhere between $250M – $350M. The company also commented that they hoped to move around 15 – 20 per cent of their sales online or to other store locations.
The company has started this process, and is currently liquidating 43 stores, which are expected to close by the end of February.
