Blue Bottle Opens in Jeju, Korea

The U.S-based coffee roaster and retailer has opened a new store on Jeju Island in Korea called Blue Bottle Jeju Café.

This, which is the brand’s ninth location in South Korea, also marks the first store to be located outside of the capital city of Seoul. The new outlet is located in Songdang-ri, Gujwa-eup of Jeju City, on the western side of the island.

The newly opened store has been designed to reflect the regional traits of the island both in terms of interior design and the items available on the menu. Low walls and a minimalistic interior design have been coupled with a wooden ceiling and large windows that let in large amounts of sunlight. The bar sits at the heart of the site, and allows visitors to move more naturally and communicate with staff more easily.

Suh Hyewook, Head of the Korean unit, commented: “Blue Bottle Jeju Café focused on going beyond the realm of cafes and is a space that both local residents and visitors to Jeju can come and relax. Through various collaborations with local communities, we will continue to create and launch programmes to blend in with the local community.”
