The nation’s largest family-owned department store retailer is expanding its drop-ship capability with help from the cloud.
Boscov’s, which operates 48 department stores in the mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Northeast US, is rolling out the cloud-based digital commerce platform for marketplace and drop-ship activity from Logicbroker. Drop-shipping enables a retailer to avoid storing its inventory by fulfilling stores directly from manufacturers and wholesalers.
Boscov’s needed a fast migration to modernise its drop-ship tech stack without having to run an IT development project. The company was able to quickly integrate Logicbroker using XML and flat files exchanged over secure FTP server (SFTP), while connecting its vendors in their preferred manner. With Logicbroker, Boscov’s now offers vendors connection options including API, EDI, SFTP, FTP, and comma-separated values (CSV). Vendors can also process order and return documents via the Logicbroker portal.
Boscov’s is ramping up its drop-shipping capability following an overhaul of
its e-commerce website. In 2021, the retailer moved from an in-house-developed
e-commerce architecture to the Kibo unified commerce environment. To deliver a
better digital customer experience across its web and mobile sites, Boscov’s
selected Kibo for its commerce and marketing capabilities as well as for its multi-tenant
architecture.
