The flagship property finally reopens its doors today after a long eight month closure caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The property, which is owned by the Jumeirah Group, is finally ready to begin welcoming guests again after what has been an incredibly difficult year for the hospitality and travel industries. Lockdowns across the world have led to a dip in tourism for key places, including Dubai.
This has been cited as one of the reasons for the hotel taking such a long time to reopen, despite being allowed to as demand only picked back up in mid-November. As well as this, the hotel does not have windows that can open meaning that essential fresh air flow is not possible to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
Despite what many had hoped, the iconic Dubai property has not undergone any renovations in the period that it has been closed, as was indicated by recently appointed Chief Executive Officer Jose Silva, due to the postponement of the Dubai Expo.
