Gaucho launches carbon neutral steaks alongside a brand-new vegan menu to highlight the restaurant group’s commitment to becoming more sustainable, aligning with its target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.
The company is pleased to announce that from today, Monday 10 January, its beef offering will include a ‘zero-carbon’ steak option, the Lomo Verde, at every restaurant. This spiral cut fillet tail, priced at £39 for 275g, is marinated in chimichurri sauce and is 100 per cent carbon neutral, with all carbon emissions offset through reforestation and investment in renewable energy sources. When ordering the Lomo Verde, guests will also be given the option to ‘top with a tree’ for £2 which will fund the planting of a sapling tree in Peru, removing additional carbon emissions that the production of the steak has created.
Further to the carbon-neutral steak offering in all restaurants, Gaucho and M will be launching and reopening restaurants this year that will offer entirely carbon-neutral beef. Gaucho will launch in Glasgow and reopen in Charlotte Street, and M will open in Canary Wharf.
Martin Williams, CEO of Gaucho and M Restaurants, notes that “as part of our journey towards Net Zero and formation of the Sustainable Steak Movement, this January sees the launch of a Carbon Neutral Steak choice in all of our venues and the opening of three restaurants which exclusively offer Carbon Neutral Steaks in the coming weeks. Now you can enjoy the World’s Best Beef- Guilt free.”
