Chotto Matte to Open Rooftop Restaurant

Offering up a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines, the restaurant will occupy 20,000sq ft at Relentless and KKR’s Manchester development, becoming the first occupier to commit to the scheme.

Chotto Matte Manchester will operate from the rooftop at St Michael’s, the £200M mixed-use development being delivered by Relentless and US investor KKR. The chain, which specialises in Nikkei cuisine, was founded and owned by Kurt Zdesar, former European director for Nobu and consultant to Alan Yau for the launch of Hakassan.

Chotto Matte restaurants can currently be found in London, Toronto and Miami. The company’s Manchester branch, due to open in the summer of 2024, joins a growing list of pipeline venues in cities including Doha, Riyadh, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The Manchester Chotto Matte will be designed by interior designer and architect Andy Martin.

“This deal aligns perfectly with our vision for St, Michael’s and the 5-star-quality we are aspiring to with this project,” said Gary Neville, Owner of Relentless. “We are pleased to be bringing this world-class, innovative brand to Manchester.”
