Set to open in Birmingham this month, the news comes following a £2.3M investment.
The first of the new stores is set to open in the city’s University Locks on Friday October 23, following a near £800,000 investment, creating 12 new jobs. As well as this, the company has overhauled the infrastructure of its Harbborne petrol station thus extending the existing food store on the site by almost a third.
The Harbborne store reopens tomorrow, Friday 16 October, following a £1.5M investment. The new store now features Amazon Lockers, hot food, a bakery, Costa Coffee express as well as fresh, healthy produce, wines, ready meal and food-to-go. Groceries are available from both stores via the Deliveroo app.
Ben Bennett, Co-op Area Manager, commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Birmingham, both stores have a great look and feel, and we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer to serve the community, conveniently.”
The launch of the two new stores will support 30 local jobs.
