The market will house 29 stores selling everything from sweets and traditional foods to abayas and perfumes.
Organised by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the new Community Market project also includes a social development centre to help train those involved. A lottery which will be held in the coming weeks will decide the beneficiaries of the new project, which will see families provided with space to sell their goods for free.
Furthermore, the project includes a social development centre that will help to train families in handicrafts and on the best practices to enable and encourage them to establish their own companies. This initiative will contribute to enhancing the economic and social development and prosperity of Qatar.
The ministry has said that the project, which is being developed in partnership with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and the United Development Company, is near completion in Pearl-Qatar, with further details to be revealed in the coming weeks.
