Costco Trialling Curbside Pickup

The company is currently offering the pickup service at three stores in Albuquerque in New Mexico.

The service is powered by Instacart technology and offers customers around 2000 items, including grocery and non-grocery items. Each order carries a $10 fee and there is a minimum spend price of $100.

Until now, Costco has not needed to offer a click-and-collect service as their stores thrive on customer’s discovering products. However, as consumer behaviours continue to change in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and curbside pickup has emerged as the preferred e-commerce channel for grocery shoppers, Costco have finally acknowledged the trend and are taking steps to implement the operations.

At present, there are no plans to roll this out on a larger-scale any time soon as the company are just testing the service on a limited basis in one market at this time.
