The new 800sq m concept store is exclusively for Decathlon members only.
Located in Villeneuve-d’Ascq the new concept store offers collections for a short period of time before moving on to offer something else. The new store features a selection of technological features that are intended to enhance a customer’s shopping experience and, in perfect keeping with the Covid-19 world, reduce human contact.
Prices are displayed on electronic labels to ensure that they can be quickly adapted when needed and an automatic inventory and contactless payment are available via the RFID readers that are in the ceilings of the store. As well as these features, changing rooms will be equipped with foot and body scanners.
Although Decathlon has commented that it is unlikely that the concept store will be rolled out across its entire portfolio, some elements of the Decathlon DX concept will be applied to other stores in the future.
