The news comes after a trial period where Decathlon and Auchan carried our 5 tests in French hypermarkets starting in April 2019.
Auchan Retail has partnered with Decathlon as part of its effort to transform its hypermarkets into places that offer customers unique shopping experiences. The retailer wants to encourage their guests to come to their stores not just for shopping, but for an experience.
The experiences that Auchan hypermarkets will offer include: being able to participate in cooking classes and oenology – the study of wine and winemaking. Customers are invited to discover local products, with the options to taste produce. A brewery is located in the heart of the store where customers can enjoy lunch and specialists are on hand throughout the hypermarket to help with any specialist questions or concerns.
Occupying a space of 360sq m, the Decathlon store within a store aims to support the customer from pre-shopping to after-sales service and to facilitate the purchase. In line with this aim, the store offers a number of services including: picking up online orders in store, access to terminals to place quick orders, various payment methods, and a workshop where decathlon products can be repaired.
