Dick’s Sporting Goods Sees Positive Q2

Their positive sales figures can be put down to people spending more time exercising and outdoors as a result of the global pandemic.

Comparable sales jumped 20.7% pushing net sales up more than 20% to $2.7bn for the period. A considerable portion of the profits can be attributed to the brand’s e-commerce sales, which ballooned by 194%. Following a very poor first quarter which brought store closures and comparable sales declines of nearly 30%, the retailer is pleased to see a complete reversal of consumer spending thanks to people wanting to invest in exercise and time outdoors.

“During this pandemic, the importance of health and fitness has accelerated and participation in socially distant, outdoor activities has increased.” CEO and Chairman Edward Stack has commented.
