The perfume chain is reportedly set to close around 500 of its 2,400 European store network.
Douglas is Europe’s leading premium beauty platform. The ever-changing retail landscape has caused Douglas to critically look at its portfolio.
As of yet, the company has not confirmed any store closure figures however it has been reported that in Germany 50 of its 430 stores are set to close but the biggest cuts will be made in Spain and Italy, where Douglas operates a large number of small stores.
The company commented: “We announced back in the summer that, as part of our corporate strategy and against the backdrop of a changed market climate due to the corona pandemic, we would be reviewing our store network. This would include the Christmas activity, which is important to us. Final decisions have not yet been made.”
