The news comes following a rise in Covid-19 cases to a record high of 3506 new cases of the virus.
The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing have announced that hospitality operators must suspend bands, DJS, dancers and other live entertainers at their venues.
Dubai’s Media Office said in a tweet: “During the last three weeks, Dubai Tourism have issued more than 200 violations of noncompliance with guidelines and closed down around 20 establishments. To ensure public health and safety, all entertainment permits issued will be on hold effective immediately. Dubai Tourism will continue to evaluate the progress with the health authorities.”
Although this is bound to be a heavy hit for venues across the country, it has been reported that hospitality operators said the new ruling would be supported to ensure the safety of their staff and customers, and the survival of the hospitality industry as a whole.
