The international value hotel chain plans to develop a 75-bedroom hotel which will open at the end of 2022, following the acquisition of a new site in Barcelona.
Located in the historic Saint Andreu district in the North East of Barcelona, the new hotel will be the Group’s second owned site in the iconic city. The hotel benefits from being close to the Basilica de la Sagrada Família, part of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, designed by the world-renowned Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. The city is also one of the key economic centres of Europe, and the new hotel is a great opportunity for business and leisure customers across Europe to secure comfortable, affordable stays in a central location.
With excellent transport links close by including both the Navas metro station and La Sagrera rail station, the hotel also stands to benefit from a €900m local regeneration project which will establish the local area as the key transport hub in the north of the city by 2022. It is also less than 20 minutes’ walk from “Glories”, an upcoming Design Hub, hosting two museums, a shopping centre, cinema and leisure activities for children.
Commenting, Francois Bachetta, CEO of easyHotel, said: “I’m delighted to confirm the latest addition to our fast-growing development pipeline of hotels with the new 75-bedroom hotel near Meridiana Avenue expected to open at the end of 2022. The acquisition builds on the success of our established owned 204-bedroom Barcelona Fira in the South West of the city, and we are delighted to have secured this prime site in the North East of this major European destination.
