easyHotel, the low-carbon, great value hotel chain, is delighted to announce its latest signing with a brand-new hotel in the Geneva region across the border in Ferney-Voltaire, France. The new property, due to open early 2027, comes as part of a raft of new signings with six confirmed new hotels being developed and a record number of potential new deals being explored.
The newly built hotel will feature 141 low-carbon bedrooms that are smartly designed to optimise space. Much like its sister brand easyJet, prices are kept low by doing away with unnecessary frills, instead focusing on easyHotel’s Core Comforts including 4-star style mattresses, premium sound insulation, and blackout blinds. Extras available from the hotel will include continental breakfast that is free of single use plastic and parking for 60 cars including electric car charging ports. The hotel will also offer superior and family rooms in addition to the standard double and twins.
The hotel is located in the town of Ferney-Voltaire, near the Swiss border and is part of the Geneva metropolitan area. Situated on Rue de Meyrin, the hotel is placed in a well-connected location, directly across from a major shopping hub with a variety of restaurants. A new tramline extension, set to open the same year as the hotel, will link guests via Line 15 to the airport in 15 minutes and a 25-minute journey to the city centre. The hotel is also conveniently close to the Palexpo International Conference and Exhibition Centre.
To finance the project, easyHotel has secured its third consecutive loan from BRED Banque Populaire, of €8.6 million, demonstrating the ongoing strength of its relationship with the bank, as well as the continuation of its ambitious expansion plans across Europe. This is in addition to the €6.75 million secured with BRED In May to finance its new hotel in Marseille.
The new hotel will be the brand’s fourth location in France and the sixth in the Switzerland region, which already includes four franchised hotels in Zurich and one in Basel. This opening will mark easyHotel’s second airport location, following the launch of its site at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in 2022. easyJet has operated a base at Geneva Airport since 1999.
The new signing comes on the back of strong numbers from easyHotel with the brand generating record revenue in 2023, topping €100 million for the first time as a record number of guests stayed. The value brand is looking to drive new growth by increasing its openings over the next few years at major cities across Europe.
With a portfolio of 49 hotels across Europe, this new signing marks easyHotel’s commitment to expanding on its recent commercial success and strengthening its presence across the continent. In addition to the Geneva site, easyHotel currently has construction projects underway in Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, and Madrid, with further signings expected to be announced soon.
Commenting on this news, Karim Malak, CEO of easyHotel, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be expanding our network of great value, low-carbon hotels across Europe and working with our development partner Demathieu Bard to help make this possible. The new opening in Geneva is particularly exciting for us, as it not only strengthens our presence in a key international hub, but it builds upon our solid brand awareness with easyJet one of the leading airlines operating from Geneva. The location and speedy new tram links mean this is a great hotel site for airport connections, conference guests and those looking to explore Geneva while enjoying the comfort and affordability that easyHotel is known for.”
“Our team has done a fantastic job to secure additional financing to make this project possible and it is a strong acknowledgment of our continuous positive relationship with BRED.”
