Eldon Square Announces Halloween Event

Eldon Square, Newcastle’s most popular shopping and dining destination, will be hosting “Eldon Scare’s Big Trick or Treat”, an event aimed to enhance the family customer shopping experience and entertain little visitors during the Halloween weekend this year.

Taking place on Saturday 29 October between 9am and 4pm, Eldon Scare’s Big Trick or Treat is a frighteningly fun trick-or-treating adventure around the centre. Participating visitors will head to the upper level of Grey’s Quarter (opposite Chatime) to be provided with an eco-friendly, Halloween tote bag, made from 60 per cent recycled cotton blended with 40 per cent polyester (rPET – fabric recycled from plastic bottles) for extra structure, and a map of where they can bag a selection of sweet treats.

During the event, visitors will explore the centre looking for the two friendly witches roaming the malls while they cast spells and pose for selfies, all while keeping an eye out for any of over 20 brands who are displaying the Eldon Scare sticker in their window. The sticker indicates they are taking part in the event and will be providing sweets to participants. Additionally, a face painting station to add the final details to a Halloween costume will be available, as is a spooky colouring area, both for a cash donation to the North East Autism Society.

With brands getting involved ranging from Paperchase to Poundland, ASK Italian to Frankie and Benny, and New Look to Lush, the event has been put together to entertain the whole family.

The initial hour of the event, from 9am to 10am will be dedicated to the centre’s “Quiet Hour” initiative developed in partnership with Northeast Autism Society with music at a lower volume and dimmed lights. Sunflower lanyards will be provided to signify children and families with Autism may need a little more assistance or time when trick or treating.
