ZUGLO DISTRICT HAS OPENED ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC
Located behind Bosnyak Square, the development
functions not only as a shopping centre but also as
a modern urban promenade, featuring stores from
numerous well-known brands.
The investment was realised on an area of more
than 6.7ha behind Bosnyak Square and according
to the developers’ intentions, it will become the new
centre of the district. With the opening brought
forward from its originally planned date, the facility
is now welcoming visitors.
The shopping centre has approximately 11,000sq m
of rentable retail space and is located in the centre of
Budapest’s fourth most populous district, with more
than 118,000 residents. There was significant interest
in the rentable areas, with 85 per cent already finding
tenants by spring this year.

Knitting together several buildings on a
large inner-city site, Melbourne Walk includes
6,295sq m of retail and InterContinental Hotel
Group (IHG)’s first Australian dual-branded
hotels, each has a distinct identity, a Hotel
Indigo and a Holiday Inn, comprising 452
rooms over nine levels above a three-level retail
podium. New dining and bar offerings include
a rooftop bar overlooking Bourke Street.
Global design studio Buchan led the architec-
ture and interior design for the entire project,
for client Steadfast Capital. The design com-
bines eight buildings and four heritage-listed
facades into a single merged precinct.
