Eli Russell Linnetz has debuted his first two ERL shop-in-shops in a 915sq ft setup at Kyoto’s Fujii Daimaru department store and a 315sq ft corner store at Dover Street Market Ginza, Tokyo.
The two new stores boast impressive blue Perspex fixtures that give the impression of waves or a half-pipe, a reflection of the brand’s quirky, cool California style with Linnetz based in Venice Beach.
ERL falls under the brand umbrella of Dover Street Market Paris, the wholly owned subsidiary of Comme des Garçons that looks after and grows a number of labels that operate under various business arrangements. The brands include Weinsanto, Vaquera, Paccbet, Youths in Balaclava, Liberal Youth Ministry and Honey F–-king Dijon.
Adrian Joffe, Chief Executive Officer, Dover Street Market and President, Comme des Garçnes said: “These spectacular designs symbolize the vision and creative talents of Eli.” He also hinted to a third ERL shop will debut next month at Dover Street Market in Beijing, which is moving to a larger location near The Forbidden City.
Meanwhile, Eli said: “For me, ERL is about colour, texture and happiness, and I wanted to keep the designs of the spaces minimal so all focus remains on the collections, which tell so many stories about California and where I’m from.”
