KSA Abha International Airport Terminal space to Increase to 65,000sq m

The terminal space at the Abha International Airport is set to increase to 65,000sq m, with the first phase expected to be finished by 2028.

Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, has announced a new masterplan for the new Abha International Airport.

The primary objective behind this project is to create a distinctive architectural identity that resonates with the heritage of the Asir region, thereby elevating it to a prominent landmark within the Kingdom.

The ambitious plan includes an expansion of the airport’s terminal area, increasing it to 65,000sq m. This expansion is slated for completion by 2028, a remarkable leap from the current 10,500sq m of the existing Abha International Airport.

The new design will also prioritise efficiency and a seamless travel experience for passengers. This transformation is set to enhance the airport’s capacity, with an anticipated annual influx of over 13 million passengers, a tenfold increase compared to the current 1.5 million capacity.
