Genting Singapore’s $4.5bn expansion of Resorts World Sentosa will begin in Q2 of this year. The first phase includes expanding Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A Aquarium.
The expansion of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will begin in the second quarter of this year. The project will begin with the expansion of Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A Aquarium, which will be enhanced and rebranded as the Singapore Oceanarium.
Tan Hee Teck, RWS CEO, said: “With our upcoming RWS 2.0 development, we are confident that RWS will be well-positioned to lead the recovery of Singapore’s tourism as borders gradually reopen. We are excited to welcome the return of more international travellers with an even more vibrant RWS in the near future.”
Following its expansion, Universal Studios Singapore will feature the new Minion Land, which will be home to multiple rides including Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, an immersive motion-simulator 3D ride that features a realistic projection system. After renovation, The Singapore Oceanarium will be three times the size of the current S.E.A Aquarium, with state-of-the-art technology, immersive exhibits and multi-sensory zones.
In addition, RWS is renovating three of its hotels – the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Hotel Michael and Festive Hotel. The refurbishment works will be carried out in phases from the second quarter of this year through to 2023.
