The online retailer is launching its designer handbag resale service, Second Life, to the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
The Second Life platform allows customers to trade in their pre-loved designer handbags in exchange for credit that can be utilised towards other purchases on the site. After submitting information and photographs of their bags online, items will be reviewed and a proposed price will be sent back within two working days. Once the price is accepted, the item is sent off for verification after which, customers will be credited with the agreed upon value.
The initiative is being run in associated with The Luxury Closet and comes following a successful launch in Europe and the United States. The service is part of Positively Farfetch, the company’s mission to contribute to a more positive and sustainable fashion environment.
Giorgio Belloli, Farfetch’s Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer, commented: “The luxury fashion industry is increasingly aligning with sustainable fashion. Like the online luxury market, the pre-owned luxury market is growing rapidly and is forecast to reach $64bn within the next five years.”
