After less than two years in production, Rihanna and luxury group LVMH have decided to shut the Fenty fashion label down.
LVMH has commented that the Fenty fashion line would be put in hold until better conditions, however the Savage X Fenty lingerie line will continue along with the cosmetics lines Fine Beauty and Fenty Skin.
The fashion line was launched in 2019 and made history as the first luxury brand run by a black woman under the LVMH brand. The brand is well-known for footwear, denim items and eyewear and although Rihanna has a huge fan base, fashion analysts believe that the items are priced too high for many.
There were signs of trouble at a press conference last October when LVMH’s Chief Financial Officer, Jean Jacques Guiony commented: “On Fenty fashion we are obviously still in a launching phase and we have to figure out exactly what is the right offer. I would say it’s still a work in progress when it comes to really defining what the offer will be.”
