Danish retail chain JYSK has launched its first store in Russia in the Trojka district of Moscow and this new opening will be followed by three further stores across the capital city during the summer.
Mikael Nielsen, Executive Vice President of Retail at JYSK, said: “I am really happy that we are now able to open our first store in Russia. The opening was originally planned for 2 April, but this was not possible due to the restrictions caused by coronavirus. Unfortunately, the ongoing threat of the virus also means that the country opening will take place without the kind of celebrations we normally associate with a country opening. That will have to wait until current restrictions are lifted, and then we will of course celebrate with our Russian customers.”

The company launched its first store in 1979 and today operates a store network of more than 2,900 shops with 23,000 employees in 52 countries. Owned by the family behind Lars Larsen Group, JYSK has an annual turnover of €3.794bn.
