Gap Opens New Stores

US-based casual wear brand Gap has opened new exclusive brand outlets in Udupi, Hyderabad and Mysore on the same day through Reliance Industries’ Reliance Retail.

“Gap launched its three stores at Udupi, Mysore and Hyderabad in a single day,” wrote Gap’s Channel Head Mukesh Sinha on Linkedin. The launches follow on from Gap’s recent 7,000sq ft store launch in Pune’s Amanora Mall.

The new Hyderabad store is located in the metro’s Next Premia Mall in Punjagutta’s Irram Manzil Colony. The new store retail’s Gap’s men’s, women’s and children’s clothing along with its accessories collections.

Gap retails in India through Reliance Retail, which signed a long-term franchise agreement with the brand in July last year to bring the label to the country for a second time. Gap had previously retailed in India with Arvind Fashions but the two businesses parted ways in 2020.

Reliance Retail is expanding Gap’s brick-and-mortar presence across India with a mixture of exclusive brand outlets, of which it now counts over 20 and shop-in-shops, which currently total over 100, India Retailing reported. Reliance Retail has also launched Gap across numerous e-commerce platforms in India.
