Halfords are set to reopen fifty three stores as the retailer has seen a surge in demand for bikes, presumably because people can not commute without using public transport.
Halfords will be operating its stores abiding with the strict rules that have been imposed to protect both staff and customers. The stores that are to be reopened will allow a limited number of people inside, under a model which bosses are wanting to call ‘Retail Lite’
The British retailer of car parts, car enhancement, tools, camping and touring equipment and bicycles has been allowed to remain open throughout the global pandemic and subsequent lockdown, as it was classed as an essential business.
“There is no timetable or deadline in place for doing so and the pace will instead be dictated entirely by the company’s confidence that it can keep its colleagues and customers safe. We are also anticipating a similar level of demand for our motoring products and services in the coming days, as people begin to use vehicles again that in some cases will have been off the road for many weeks.” – Halfords said in a statement.
