HelloFresh Plans to Expand Reach

The popular meal-kit delivery service has announced that it will enter Japan, its first Asian market, by the end of the year.

The move comes following a strong second quarter, in which the meal-prep company reached a quarterly-high of €1.56bn, which is a 66.5 per cent increase year-on-year in constant currency. The same period last year recorded a quarterly high of €153.6M.

The brand plans to tap into robust demand across regions, planning to bulk up its warehouse network, whilst exploring the idea of bringing its brands and popular kits to other international markets, including both Japan, its first Asian market and Italy. In July of this year, the brand also entered Norway, whilst it also launched HelloFresh Market in the US, adding both ready-to-hear and grocery items to its offering.

According to HelloFresh, the brand is on track to deliver 900 million meals this year, compared with just 600 last year at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
