The brand has opened a new flagship store in Tokyo’s trendy Ginza district, as the French luxury maison makes further inroads in the Japanese capital.
Located on the first floor of the Mitsukoshi retail landmark, the opening is the second store for Hermés in Ginza, Tokyo’s most famous upmarket shopping, dining and entertainment district.
Outside, the store’s main window above Mitsukoshi’s entrance features a 3D horse silhouette, with semi-sheer origami screens allowing natural light to shine through the four additional windows and illuminate the store.
Designed by the Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the store utilises the elegant and vibrant atmosphere of Ginza, while seamlessly integrating the house codes.
Inside, a palette of red, pink, taupe, mauve, amber, and yellow sits alongside warm cedar wood paneling and cherry wood furniture.
Upon entering the store from inside the mall, visitors are welcomed by a yellow, pink mosaic floor, leading them via wavy panels of rose tones to where perfumes are located alongside the brand’s home universe, women’s silk, and fashion jewellery.
At the rear of the store, the leather and equestrian collections are displayed, with the watch and jewellery area located to the right, wrapped in yellow origami marquetry. On the left, passages lead to two fitting rooms, a lounge and three salons showing respectively the women and men’s shoes, followed by the women and men’s ready-to-wear universe.
